At the tender age of 11 Dave saw Elvis on T.V. He instantly loved the hair style, clothes and the feel of the music. He wanted to find out more so he dived into his mothers record collection where he found a greatest hits album of Buddy Holly, the first track PeggySue, he liked and after the next track That'll be the day he was hooked. He then spent all of his spare time and cash buying Buddy Holly records until he had everything he had ever recorded. Along the way he discovered the great sound of the early Sun recordings by Elvis, then Eddie Cochran and then Gene Vincent ,WOW! what sounds. He went to his first record hop at the age of 14 and loved every second of it, He quickly learned how to bop and jive and later that year went to his first show featuring the Jets in his home town of Birmingham, The band were awesome and from that moment on all he wanted to do was learn to play the guitar and join a band. He brought his first acoustic guitar for £5.00 when he was just 15 and taught him self to play using a book of chords and listening to records and trying to strum along, He joined his first band, The Sun Valley Boys in the early 80's playing rhythm guitar where he met his best Bud John 'B Goodey on the slap bass , and they formed a band called the Railroaders where he progressed to lead guitar and lead singer on account they didn't have one, When the band split there was just Dave and his best friend John holding the fort in the rehearsal room, by this time the Stray Cats had become really big on the scene and they both really loved the sound and style they were playing , They spent the next couple of years playing and rehearsing and auditioning Drummers and singers to form the band the Wildkatz, they played all over the country and had a ball for many years within this time he also started a band called the Shakers for a short while, their singer with the Wildkatz moved on leaving them as a trio and allowing them to express them selves in a different way, but it was always a struggle with promoters and venues not wanting to book them after the novelty had gone, anyway after a few years of blood sweat and tears trying to keep the wildkatz going with his good friend by his side Gary Clarke barely covering costs and most times loosing out he has desided to call it a day with the wildkatz and come to join the BOBCATS what a guitarist this guy is!!!!!
